Ambrose Dudley Capps [Parents] was born 1 on 23 Jun 1831 in MO. He died on 27 Oct 1897 in Stewartsville, Clinton, MO. Ambrose married Julia Ann Pickett on 15 Dec 1852 in Clay Co., MO.

Soon after his marriage, he moved to Clinton Co., south of Plattsburg, where he resided till the beginning of the Civil War. He served in the southern army a year, then went to Denver, CO for a year thence to Nebraska City, where he remained for another year. In 1867, he began to improve his farm near Stewartsville MO and for thirty years he was a useful, honorable and beloved citizen of his community.
Soon after joining the church in 1856, he was elected ruling elder and served the church faithfully in that capacity until his death. He frequently attended Presbyterian Synods, Sunday School Conventions and temperance meetings for he was an earnest advocate of every good cause. No ordinary circumstance prevented him from attending church service. He was a daily Bible reader, and a punctual Sunday School teacher, both at Untiy and Long Branch Sunday Schools.
The disease of which he died, was of great severity, perhaps the greatest that befalls the human family, cancer of the lower jaw.
He died at the old homestead, near Stewartsville, Clinton, MO.

John Quincy Adams Capps Sr. [Parents] was born 1 on 1 Mar 1833 in Old Capps Homestead, Liberty, Clay, MO. He died on 22 Sep 1862 in MO. John married Eliza J. Harrel.

He was a very delicate man. He never did much hard labor. He was a slave overseer and with a sunny disposition. The plantation where he worked belonged to the Arnold men.
In Sept. 1862, the Union soldiers came and wanted John Q.A. Capps Sr. to haul a load of hay to Richmond for them. He did not feel able to go but they forced him to. He went and came home sick. He took pneumonia and died on 22 Sep 1862, leaving a wife and two small sons. A third son, John Q.A. Jr. was born 10 Feb 1863.

Eliza J. Harrel was born on 22 Oct 1836. She died on 23 Jan 1897. Eliza married John Quincy Adams Capps Sr..

Eliza and the two younger boys were living in District 124, Liberty, Clay, MO in 1880.
