Jane and Vance had two children. They moved with her parents Sampson and Esther Capps from TN to Lincoln Co., MO in 1828. From there they moved to WI and about the start of the war, they moved to Burlington, Des Moines, IA.
Vance took ill and they started back to MO. He got so bad they stopped at Fort Madison, where he died and was buried.
Jane finished the trip and settled on the Niangua River, Camden CO., MO and remarried.

Found his families information from the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census for Jackson, Keokuk, IA.
His gravestone places his birth in 1797 but the census for 1850 which said he was 47 at the time places his birth in 1803.
William Sr. was living with son William P. according to the 1880 IA Census. He was 78 years old.

Anna "Annie" Cabbage was born 1 on 18 Sep 1804 in Grainger Co., TN. She died 2 on 18 Sep 1864 in Keokuk Co., IA and was buried in Sep 1864 in Rock Creek Cem., Keokuk Co., IA. Anna married William Capps about 1825 in Grainger Co., TN.

Hiram P. Capps [Parents] was born 1 in 1805 in Grainger Co., TN. He died after 1870 in Near Vanburen Co., AR. Hiram married Elizabeth Sweete.

Hiram and Elizabeth moved to Lincoln Co., MO from IN and then to Adair Co., MO. Later, they moved with several other Capps' to Grant, WI then back to MO before moving on and settling in Jasper, Crawford Co. AR near Vanburen. He was living there at the time of the war when he and a son were shot at by Rebels. Hiram received 2 to 3 balls, his son took 16 and died instantly. Hiram survived his wounds.
Demila Capps, age 20 in 1850, is said to be a relative and not a daughter but that she was treated like one in the home.

Elizabeth Sweete was born 1 in 1805/1807 in TN. She died after 1870 in Vanburen Co., AR. Elizabeth married Hiram P. Capps.
